The Filmmakers Pod was established to provide filmmakers with an ever evolving resource for tips, techniques and inspiration. With the advances in both low-cost production and post technology and the availability of new, cheap means of internet distribution, filmmaking has truly become a democratized form of expression. Filmmaking as a craft has become extremely popular and develops out of the nexus of art and commerce. More than most art forms, and with very few exceptions, filmmakings very nature requires community and an ongoing pursuit of practical knowledge.

Filmmakers Pod does not propose to feature any specific genre or appeal to a certain skill set, but rather provide information that is hopefully interesting and helpful across the spectrums of both experience and interest. It is our hope that whether you are in the first year of being a boom operator, writing your first script or developing your third feature, you will find this site engaging and useful.

The format is somewhat loose and we hope the content and focus will develop in an organic way as a result of input from it's growing audience. To this end, we welcome suggestions and feedback.

Please note, this site as of now is a labor of love and much of the content is captured on the fly, under less than favorable circumstances. This is no way an apology, but should serve to set expectations. Besides, lo-fi is cool. Everyone knows that.
